Cafe Liberica, thank for an excellent description of this character. This guy is the mastermind of the Liberian Organization in Chicago splitting into two factions today. His childish tantrum can be compare to a 5 year old.

You could not have said it any better:

"Isaac Vowal is a very paranoid fellow and a very polarizing figure. Vowal is also widely known for his very poor human relationship in terms of working with others. He is an uncompromising individual and sometimes demonstrates erratic (irregular) behavior and at times very unreasonable guy to deal with, in the global public square."

What else is new,the same bribery mentality and who knows you from Liberia. This ia shameful and embarrassing, who ever that is in charge should be fired or ask to resign. The same corruption is taking place at the embassy.

Comment on Can Liberia Avoid the Oil Curse? by Chris

An oil curse requires oil to be found, the wells that are drilled this year are exploration wells only. As with anywhere in the world these represent at best a 50-50 chance of finding oil, and even less chance of the finds being large enough to be commercial. Not so much putting the cart before the horse, but having a horse and cart before you own a farm.

It is a shame that an embassy staff is non-responsive to an important communication tool in this age and time. We Liberians take too much for granted; do not plan for anything, disregard time, and has no respect for responsibility! No wonder why we are where we are today; both home and abroad! Get on your JOB mr. ambassador! A lack of communication is an impairment to progress!
Respectfully,
Josiah
ps. Don't ask me what am I doing about it; that is what and why you get pay; it is your JOB!

Melba, I agree with you, everyone who work at Embassy needs to be train, but equally so employees can be train only if they can follow the rules and regulations that need to be force by staff members also. Contrarily employees will do whatever they feel is right and would be no professionalism, effectiveness in their duties. What happening now, is a complete shame and disgrace to our country its people.
From my stand point of view is that the Liberian Embassy supposedly serves as the extension of our country in another country for the purposes of serving its citizens and as well others who express interest of relationship.
How can they serve us if they can’t be reached or return calls, or if they are finally reached they becomes unprofessional interacting with clients. It seen the Embassy of Liberia in Washington D.C has no interest or concern in it citizens, if they are not care about their own people how can they care about others who are not citizens of Liberia, this need to be STOP, and I hope that with the new administration we can get a better service such as Passports being process on time and return, good customer support system be put into place and try to keep awareness and concern of it people by updating Liberians on what to do on issues that affecting the communities.
We have thousand of Liberians who are in trouble; some are innocent, and the EMBASSY IS OF NO HELP AT ALL, NO WHERE TO SEEK ANY INFORMATIONS, the site is down for the longest. It is about time for us to do something or demand answers for this kind of poor services.

The first improvement needs to start with how staff answer the phone. The embassy is a place of business and not an individual personal phone. Example: I was helping my neighbor apply for a new passport and we were told that the embassy was not issuing passport at the moment and she needed to go to Liberia for a new passport. I think we can all agree that in order to travel outside the country, a valid passport is needed. I was a little confuse on the advise of going to Liberia just to obtain a new passport, when her current passport was expired.

It is clear that there have been some changes in staff and leadership roles. The new staff needs to be trained in the manner of which they respond to the public and how they handle people documents. The embassy website give a time period of processing documents, but things never get done on time. Most people end up paying expedite fees for the embassy delay in order to commit to their travel plans and others have to go through the process of who you know to get their documents back on time. The service at the embassy really needs to be improved.
